Title: Facility Attendant
Status:
Seasonal - Until 31st October 2008 (Possibility of extension)
FT / PT: Part Time
Rate of Pay: Minimum Wage (dependant on age) 
Responsible to: Gasworx Manager / Facility Supervisor


Main Duties –
• Maintain high standards of service delivery
• Be actively involved in health and safety
• Carry out health and safety checklists and risk assessments.
• Supervise users to enhance their enjoyment of the facility and to prevent injury, misuse or damage having due regard for Health & Safety issues effecting both staff and general public
• Be actively involved in cleaning throughout the facility
• Encourage youth participation with young people within Bridlington and the surrounding area
• Assist in raising the profile of the Gasworx facility and its services in Bridlington and the surrounding area
• Dealing with and referring customer enquiries
• Supervise customers using the facility
• Promote Gasworx Services

• Implement an in-house booking system
• General office duties
• Assist in planning and running of events
• Answering the telephone
• Reception tasks
• Maintain customer records
• Cash handling
• Use of computerised till system
• General housekeeping


Background
The Gasworx was developed by the Bridlington Town Council, as a response to the wide and varied needs of the existing voluntary and community sector, which currently works with children and young people within Bridlington and the surrounding area.

Environment
As a project of the Bridlington Town Council, Gasworx will be at the heart of the community of Bridlington and the surrounding area. The post holder will therefore be in contact with a wide range of diverse organisations within the town, surrounding area and beyond, as well as young people from a wide range of backgrounds. Therefore it is important that the project is sensitive to the needs of all groups, not just the needs of young people in Bridlington and the surrounding area and is seen to be able to represent its diversity.

Discretion to Act

The post holder's work will be directed by the Gasworx Manager. As a member of the Gasworx team and the BTC staff team s/he will be expected to work with a considerable amount of autonomy in the area. S/he will, however, be expected to work within the framework of agreed procedure and Bridlington Town Council policies.

Qualifications


Essential:
Good general standard of education
First Aid Certificate (Training will be given prior to commencement of employment)

Desirable:
Coaching qualifications
Working towards a Sport and Leisure related qualification
Community Sports Leader Award

Manual Handling Certificate (Training will be given)
IT Qualification
Experience

Essential:
Cash handling
Working with young people.

Working face to face with the public.

Desirable:
Working within the youth/leisure/sport sector in a paid or voluntary capacity.
Use of a computerised till system
Coaching young people and adults in a range of activities.
Experience of planning and organising sports sessions.


Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Essential:
Good communication and negotiation skills with excellent written and oral skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people at all levels, with special regard to communicating with young people.
Excellent time-management skills.
Cash handling

Work under pressure
Ability to work on own initiative.
IT skills, such as email, internet.

Desirable:
Competent Skateboarding/in-line skating/BMX ability.
Ability to fix/maintain skating and BMX equipment.
History of the Gasworx Project

Personal
The post holder must be committed to the values inherent in youth work, namely to the principles of empowerment, young people's participation and equal opportunities.
S/he must be flexible, willing to work unsocial hours, as the nature of the project may include regular evening/weekend work, and have a high level of enthusiasm and commitment to providing a quality service.

PLEASE NOTE: Successful candidates may be required to attend various training sessions in their own time prior to commencement of employment.



Title: Facility Supervisor
Status:
Seasonal - Until 31st October 2008(Possibility of Extension)
FT / PT: Part Time
Rate of Pay: £6.39p/h (Point 7)
Responsible to: Gasworx Manager

Main Responsibilities
• To supervise the day to day cleaning, maintenance, safety and security of the premises and displays
• To be responsible for the safety, security and customer care of all visitors to the premises
• To prepare facility for opening up / closing
• To carry out regular Health and Safety and Fire Safety checks and any site operational risk assessments

• Supervise staff and ensure that the facility is operated correctly in the absence of the Gasworx Manager
• Supervise users to enhance their enjoyment of the facility and to prevent injury, misuse or damage having due regard for Health & Safety issues effecting both staff and general public.
• To carry out Gasworx Financial Procedures; e.g. cashing up
• To undertake any other duties which may be requested by the Gasworx Manager to the grade and level of responsibility of the post
